Application open for European Green Capital 2021 and European Green Leaf Awards 2020

The title of European Green Capital is awarded every year to a European city for its commitment to environmental, social and economic sustainability. The first city was awarded the title in 2010. Now in its 11th year, the European Commission will launch the competition to identify the winner of the European Green Capital 2021 title. The winner of this title will also receive a financial incentive of €350,000 to kick-start their environmental programme for the year! The application form is the first step which could see your city become European Green Capital in 2021! All interested parties are required to register to proceed to the application form and supporting documents.The European Green Capital Award is open to cities across Europe with over 100,000 inhabitants. See eligibility criteria and competition information here.   The title of European Green Leaf is awarded every year to recognise and promote the efforts of smaller cities and towns (20,000 up to 100,000 population) towards better environmental management and outcomes. The first cities were awarded the title in 2015. Now in its 5th year, the European Commission will launch the competition to identify the winner(s) of the European Green Leaf 2020 title. The winner of this title will also receive a financial incentive of €75,000 to kick-start their environmental programme for the year! The application form is the first step which could see your city become European Green Leaf in 2020!
