S3 Strategy

The Asturian Smart Specialization Strategy (RIS3) has selected 16 thematic priorities grouped into 6 areas of specialization. Two of the areas are dominated by an approach towards economic activity and its markets (the Steel Pole and the Health Pole). The other four areas of specialization ((1) Advanced and Raw Materials, (2) Agri-food Markets, (3) Additive manufacturing and digitalization, (4) Energy Efficiency, Smart Transport and Security Systems and water management) are identified through by industrial sectors governed by technology. These scientific-technological thematic priorities have their origin in the knowledge capacity of the regional R&D centers and are aligned with the technologies that the economic and industrial growth demands to improve its competitiveness.
