ICT WG Meeting: Blockchain

The first ICT Working Group meeting of this year will take place on 13th June from 14.30 at the House of Dutch Provinces (Rue des Treves 59-61, Brussels). The event is designed to provide regions with an overview on the activities in the field of blockchain at European level but also to explore existing application fields and related regional activities.  After the keynote speech of Mr Prieto from the BISITE Digital Innovation Hub of the University of Salamanca, who will give a detailed introduction to the blockchain technology, we will have a presentation by a representative from Lynkeus on My Health My Data (MHMD) project representing an application of blockchain to medical data. Professor Avital from the Copenhagen Business School will show how blockchain can fit into a business model, while the Policy Advisor Economic Affairs of the City of Groningen, Mrs De Boer, will brief participants on the biggest blockchain hackathon in the world, taking place in Groningen in April 2018. Finally yet importantly, Mrs Mazzone, Innovation Policy Office from DG CONNECT will talk about the newly implemented European Blockchain Observatory.  The objective of this meeting is to raise awareness, inform about ongoing activities and initiatives and explore how regions and regional research and innovation stakeholders can interconnect and participate.
