Cohesion and societal challenges: Success stories for a more effective policy

Cohesion policy for all regions has been essential for reducing disparities within the EU. With the EU budget under pressure and new societal challenges facing Europe’s regions, a strong Cohesion policy is more important than ever. To remain effective, Cohesion policy must become more responsive to citizens’ needs and enable regions to strengthen their innovation systems. By giving Europe’s regions more flexibility, they can generate tailor-made approaches to effectively tackle societal challenges. This workshop will highlight examples of regional best practices while focusing on innovative approaches to tackling societal challenges on the ground to boost interregional administrative capacity building. This session of the European Week of Regions and Cities 2018 is organised by Innovative regions for a strong cohesion policy, a partnership composed of Vysočina Region (CZ), Marshal Office Mazovia (PL), and ERRIN Members Saxony-Anhalt (DE), Centre-Val de Loire Region (FR), Welsh Government (GB) and Generalitat Valenciana (ES).  Please register by using the code 9WS215.
